About Me

After graduating from high school, I realized that there was a part of me that was compelled to become an English teacher.

But I ignored it. I wanted to try other things, other cities, other countries, and teaching seemed too safe to me, especially straight out of high school. I moved to San Diego and attended San Diego State University. During my undergraduate period, I also studied at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. I came back to the States and wrote for Surfing Magazine in San Clemente, California while finishing up my undergraduate degrees in English and Journalism. It was just what I dreamed of doing one day. So I stopped working for them.

Here I am getting my teaching credential at California State University, San Marcos, going back to that feeling that I felt at the end of high school — the feeling that there was something more to be done. I hope to continue on as a fulltime English teacher at a high school in California, making students understand that literature has a lot to offer everyone, even young high schoolers who feel disconnected from the monotonous school curriculum.
